I love how a clean white glaze can be used to bring out both intricate and subtle textures on pottery pieces. These hand built coffee mugs add a textured element to my daughter's kitchen, but they don't compete with the bright accent colors she has chosen. The white of the pot in the second photo allows light to accentuate the texture while also allowing the greenery of a fern or the lovely colors in an orchid to really shine. Both would also be nice in a more neutral space because the textures will add visual depth to your decor. Don't get me wrong…I obviously love bright, colorful glazes, but sometimes white is the perfect "color."
