Hello Pottery Lovers!!

My name is Carolyn Vass and I am a native of Tampa, Florida and a designer of pottery.

Tampa is surrounded on three sides by beautiful Old Hillsborough Bay and New Tampa Bay which unite with the Gulf of Mexico. I live an hour and 15 minutes from my favorite Gulf Beach at Anna Maria Island where I absorb the vivid colors of the beautiful coastal scenery that enhance my hand built and wheel thrown pottery creations.

At Anna Maria Island, I wake to a beautiful sunlit blue sky, walk along the cottage dotted road to the creamy white sands of the seashore while admiring the glossy green leaves of the Sea Grape trees, chartreuse green palms and the deep green shade of soft pines that outline the sandy beach. 

I stroll along the tranquil turquoise waters of the mid morning gulf while collecting lovely shells and enjoying fluffy

white clouds suspended above as gray and white seagulls coast and dip for shiny small fishes.

At days end, the waters are a deeper blue as the sun begins to melt over the western gulf. It is here that I have experienced some of the most breathtaking bright fiery orange sunsets with the most resplendent after glow canvas of lilac and turquoise and shades of gold and pink!! 

My drive home along the gulf road is graced with colorful coastal shrubs and flowers and the gorgeous red blossoms of Royal Poinciana trees. Tampa is home, where I enjoy creating simple pottery pieces that I will lavishly glaze with my favorite Anna Maria Island colors.
